It’s Official: Miami Beach Approves Mission50

It’s official: the City of Miami Beach has approved Mission50 — Sandra Alonso’s tennis world record attempt: 50 consecutive singles matches, ten past the current mark of 40.

Presenting Mission50 to the City Commission at Miami Beach City Hall — October 14, 2026.

On October 14, 2026, Sandra and the team presented Mission50 to the City Commission at Miami Beach City Hall. The answer was yes. That means it’s real. The dates are locked. The courts are ours. And now it’s time to bring the community with us.

Why Miami Beach

Sandra grew up between Madrid and Miami, and for the last four years Miami Beach has been home. It’s where she lives and where she coaches today, training players from kids to adults. Holding it here means the people who know her — her students, her neighbors, her community — get to be part of it.

That’s the heart of Mission50: one athlete, fifty opponents, and a community that shows up for three days to help make history. The City’s approval turns that idea into a reality, and we’re grateful to Miami Beach for believing in it.

Inside the Tennis World Record Attempt

The standing record is 40 consecutive opponents, set by Stef Kerfs of Belgium in December 2023. Match 41 rewrites it. Mission50 goes ten further.

Stef’s accomplishment is a remarkable one. We stand on the shoulders of the people who came before us, and it’s an honor to compete for a record he set the bar for.

  • 50 consecutive singles matches — every match completed, back to back, against a new opponent.
  • Match 41 — the moment the record breaks. Everything after is new territory.
  • Roughly 53 hours — the current estimate from first serve to the final point of Match 50.
  • Every match witnessed and filmed — independent witnesses, timekeepers, and continuous video from start to finish.

To get there, Sandra has been training with her health team since the beginning of 2026 — building the physical endurance fifty matches demand, and the mental conditioning to stay present match after match, hour after hour, through the night and into day two.

The Dates

Friday, February 19 – Sunday, February 21, 2027. One player. 50 matches. NonStop.

The Location

Bayshore Park Tennis Courts · Miami Beach, FL

The event will be hosted at Bayshore Park with the Miami Beach Tennis Academy. Matches will run day and night under the lights. Our hope is to make it free to attend in a limited capacity — details on access and capacity will be shared soon.

What Happens Next

With the City on board, the work shifts to building the team around Sandra:

  • Opponents — we’re lining up the fifty community players who will face Sandra, plus reserves on standby. Each opponent commits to a roughly three-hour window and stays flexible as the schedule moves in real time.
  • Volunteers — witnesses, timekeepers, and crew to keep the attempt running around the clock.
  • Partners — sponsors who want to stand behind a Miami Beach story and help fund the mission.

Let’s Make History Together

A special thank you to Miami Beach Commissioner Laura Dominguez for supporting Mission50 from day one.

Thank you to the City of Miami Beach for believing in this mission, to the Miami Beach Tennis Academy for welcoming us to Bayshore Park, and to everyone who’s been following along since day one. Here’s how to be part of it:

  • Play A Match — step on court as one of Sandra’s fifty opponents.
  • Volunteer — help run three days of NonStop play.
  • Sponsor — put your brand behind the mission.
  • Watch It Live — follow every match live.
